The Arts Center of Cannon County field trips make a lasting impression. Entering its 15th year, the School Matinee Program provides educational programming for over 15,000 students annually from a seven county area. Utilizing volunteer adult and student performers, this unique program introduces students of all ages to what is many times their first formal arts experience.
How to schedule a visit for your school group:
Ordering is easy! Simply call The Arts Center of Cannon County at (615) 563-ARTS (2787) or
1-800-235-9073 (10:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Saturday) to reserve your seats. If you are on our
mailing list you can simply fill out the form and mail it in. We have begun a new emailing
system in which you recieve Arts Center updates via email and you can email your reservation to us. If
you would like to be a part of this group please email tara@artscenterofcc.com and write "teacher
email" in the subject line. If you would like to be added to our regular mailing list please type "school
brochure" in the subject line. And of course you can sign up for both!

The Emperor's New Clothes
A play by Greg Atkins, based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen
The Emperor finds out that clothes do not really “make the man” when he is duped by two schemers who say they can make a suit that can only be seen by those who are intelligent. A delightful, funny re-telling of one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most popular fairy tales.

The Velveteen Rabbit
A play by Phil Grecian, based on the book by Margery Williams
This classic story takes us back to the nursery with a boy and his velveteen rabbit. Although the rabbit is not new or shiny, the boy loves him best. Join the velveteen rabbit in his pursuit of what it means to be real & really love.

Number the Stars
Adapted by Dr. Douglas W. Larche, based on the book by Lois Lowry a National Best Seller and winner of the Newberry Award and the American Library Association Book of the Year
During the German occupation of Denmark in World War II, Danish freedom fighters of all ages risked everything in daring attempts to rescue the Jewish population. In this stirring new play, young Anne Marie and Kirsti face their fears as they try to help their friend Ellen escape to Sweden safely.
