2009/2010 Exhibition
From Necessity to Invention:
Tools, Machinery and Culture
The Arts Center of Cannon County and the Cannon Cultural Museum are proud to announce the 2009/2010 exhibition, From Necessity to Invention: Tools, Machinery and Culture exploring how the development of culture is directly affected by tools and machines. This exhibit looks at the advent of both hand implements and machinery on agriculture in Middle Tennessee, on the development of the white oak basketry culture and chair making tradition in Cannon County , and on the production of moonshine whiskey in the area. The exhibition will also examine the “Stump Jumper” tradition from Reel Foot Lake in the northwestern corner of the state.
The Cannon Cultural Museum’s second exhibition features artifacts from the Gertrude and Ben Caldwell Collection and the Cannon County Historical Society Collection and is sponsored by the Arts Center of Cannon County, the Cannon County Historical Society and Gertrude and Ben Caldwell.

Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour Preview
August 20-September 13, 2009
The Arts Center of Cannon County is proud to announce the opening of its new Marly Berger Gallery exhibit, Off the Beaten Path. This show, a collection of the region's finest craft artists features works in ceramic, fiber, photography, glass and wood furniture and wood working. This exhibit celebrates the 10th anniversary of the region's finest craft guild and studio tour.
